MacDonald Faber Ltd was originally established in 1955 as a dress maker’s supply store and notions supplier in the city’s west end. The company has remained true to its roots, still carrying huge selection of notions and supplies at their new store, macFabsews. They have evolved the main location into a boutique fabric shop as well as soft furnishings and accessories store.
Owner Dale Sonier purchased the company 18 yrs ago from the original owners and moved it to the burgeoning neighbourhood of Queen and Bathurst. MacFab was the place to go for all the coolest fabrics, draperies and supplies. Always striving to be ahead of the curve, he moved the business to the up and coming Queen East neighbourhood 4 yrs ago, transforming the business again, with the help of his partner, Patrick Kennedy, and his vision. The store has become a boutique fabric shop, giving Torontonians a place to shop the world under one roof. With Patrick’s experience in furniture (owner, Soft Options Upholstery), and eye, they are moving into custom soft furnishings, focusing on sofas, chairs and drapery, while mixing in a hand picked collection of accessories and candles from Europe, with the largest selection of European fabrics available direct to the public.
“We only buy what we love and would buy for ourselves. Everyone deserves quality, from a candle to a hand made Canadian sofa. Craftsmanship is timeless. You have to visit to experience and see all the things that inspire your own version of HOME. “
